‘The Bachelorette’ recap: Michelle and Gabby change the rules – with devastating results

Following a moving group meeting, Rachel and chatterbox changed the rules for Monday’s episode of the bachelorette – with surprisingly disappointing results.

But first, Rachel and zack were treated to a one-on-one date worthy of a Hollywood power couple, courtesy of the TV host Karamo Brownwhich saw them walk the red carpet for a big-screen glimpse into each other’s lives, set to music by the composer Matt white. The two felt an instant connection with each other which led Rachel to offer the California tech executive the rose date, which he eagerly accepted.

So Erich joined Gabby for a one-on-one that quickly turned into a two-on-one when another celebrity – at least on Bachelor Nation – Gabby’s grandfather John showed up to join them for a sound healing ceremony, followed by something a little more down Grandpa’s driveway, specifically bowling. Erich passed Grandpa’s test and won over Gabby at their intimate dinner party, after which, he accepted his date to stand up.

Later, the remaining 19 men embarked on the biggest group date of Bachelorette story, where the two women had the chance to imagine their future with men – literally – through the lens of the legendary photographer Franco Lacoste.

The group then headed to SoFi Stadium for a romantic evening which took a devastating turn for Gabby when she learned that three of the men – Tyler, Jacob and Hayden — felt more of a connection to Rachel, with the latter explaining that he was put off by her “rough around the edges” and “clumsy” personality. Rachel’s date rose went to Avenwhile Gabby gave no rose.

This led to the Bachelorettes changing the rules, deciding to “move forward on two separate trips.” Gabby and Rachel each had their own set of roses, which they took turns gifting to the men they wanted to continue dating. Accepting the rose was a commitment to date that Bachelorette only for the rest of the contest.

The idea didn’t end well, especially for Rachel, who had Alec, james and Tremayne refuses her rose. Although they were put back in line with a chance to be offered Gabby’s rose, they were sent home, along with Jacob.

But hold the phone…

In a confessional that aired during the end credits, James “Meatball” expressed regret for turning down Rachel’s rose, then begged her for another chance. Will she reconsider? We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
